Hi, I’m Alexandre—writer, explorer, and long-time lover of all things travel.

My journey began early. I took my first solo trip at 17 to visit my friend Julien in Blois, in France’s Loire Valley. That summer, we road-tripped across Europe and unknowingly changed the course of my life. Those experiences opened my mind to the idea that you don’t have to live where you were born to feel at home. Just as we choose our friends, we can choose the place where we feel most alive.

I’ve now been living abroad for over five years, currently in the heart of Mexico—not on a beach, but in a vibrant, semi-desert region far from the tourist brochures. It’s a place of powerful landscapes, layered history, and rich everyday culture.

Here on The Happy Traveler, I’ll be your guide to some of Mexico’s lesser-known destinations—and a few of the popular ones, too. Through stories, photos, and food, I’ll help you discover a deeper side of Mexican life: one shaped by tradition, community, and unexpected beauty.

Let’s explore the Mexico you don’t always see on postcards—one bite, one market, one hidden plaza at a time.I’ll be talking to you and introducing you to some lesser-known spots, and sometimes even more popular ones among tourists, in Mexico. Discover with me the gastronomy, culture, and hidden treasures of Mexico.
